We had been swimming for so long in different spots all over the world, but the catalan coast line, since 2014 (Barcelona and its surroundings), has had been seeing the implementation of a great project that follows the purpose to energize and promote open water swimming in an exceptional enviroment. Who is in charge of this pioneer initiative? The crew of VIES BRAVES with Miquel Sunyer in front of it.
Vies Braves is a public network of marine and open water trails designed for sporting, leisure and educational activities.
In all towns with Vies Braves, they organise free promotional swimming and snorkelling sessions for everyone. Their aim is to promote meetups to swim in a group, get people started at open water swimming and also to try snorkelling. All sessions are runned by qualified instructors. This initiative, unique in the world, is a sustainable, quality product designed to foster the landscape as a tourist destination.
This type of sustainable tourism boosts the area’s economy and mobility, as well as making it less dependent on seasonal factors.
