The second Edition of the OWWT is ready. For 2019’s new events have joined the Tour.
The OWWT is a global Tour with its own ranking. The swimmers obtain points in every event they take part, but also doing “solo swims” in regulated crossings.
One of the main novelties is that the OWWT jumps to the african continent, where the inaugural stage of the Tour will be held. The choosen event has been the Jendamark Bellbuoy Challenge. This is one of the most prestigious events in South Africa, where the swimmers will swim on the Nelson Mandela Bay, at Port Elisabeth the 13th of April.
After that the Tour will move to America. The american organizer will be the same as last year’s, Odyssey OWS, but with a brand new event, the Berkley Swim Race, the 8th of June.
Then Italy at the 16th of June, with the Italian Open Water Tour. The IOWT will have 3 events, but they will count as one for the OWWT final ranking points.
By the end of June, the 30th, it will be the turn for the asian stage at Kazahstan, with the Swim Race by Almaty Marathon. An event in a espectacular beach club that makes worth it to travel there.
The first weekend of July the OWWT will come back to Europe with a new event for the Tour, the classical Horten Moss in Norway. An amazing 10km swim race in an outstanding location that will do the delights of all swimmers.
In august, from the 8 to 11 will take place a new creation event, orginzed by the OWWT staff. A 4 stage swim race by the coast of a Mediterranean amazing spot, the Open Water Costa Daurada.
In september, the 7th & 8th, the main character will be the Woerthesee Swim, in Klagenfurt, Austria with a unique competition with the Alps landscape as spectators.
And as last year’s edition Spetses Mini Marathon, in Greece, the 4-6th of October will be the final event of the OWWT 2019 and will announce the winners of this Edition.
The CEO, Dani Buyo, has shared with us their gratitude with all OWWT organizers and their commitment, and is convinced that this 2nd Edition will consolidate the project and the exchange of swimmers participation will increase considerably between the Tour’s events, one of the main targets of the OWWT staff.
