The past weekend, the awesome island of Spetses, Greece hosted one of the best sports event in Greece, the Spetses Mini Marathon, that this year was the last stage of the OWWT’18.
The SMM is a multisport event with multiple open water swimming races (From 150m for the little ones to 5km), but also Run and SUP races.
Everything started on Friday 5th with the Kids swim races and its award ceremonies.
But it was on Saturday morning when most of the swimmers present in the island got their challenges. All of them where an absolute success and the last swim race, the 5km, was the one that proclaimed the winners of the last OWWT stage.
The best swimmer in the 5km race were Lampros Goudoumis that did an amazing race dominating from start to end the mens category.
On the women’s race the battle was served and two swimmers remained together all the course long and crossed the finish line practically together, separated only for one second. The final winner was Vasiliki Kouveli.
But Spetses island kept busy all the weekend with the corresponding awards ceremonies, an outstanding pasta party, to end on Sunday with the 5km and 25km run races.
Special mention to the organizing team with Dr. Marina – Lida Coutarelli the main responsable of this unique event, but also all her staff and volunteers that made year after year Spetses mini Marathon an event that nobody should miss.
